Jan Ebel's Topics

If I am a Princess, Who Stole My Tiara?

Hanging onto the Glass Slipper When Dreams Don't Come True

Do you ever wonder where your dreams of Prince Charming went? Have the dreams of your "Happily Ever After" become buried under piles of laundry, overwhelming daily tasks, rebellious children, financial struggles or career disappointments? When unfulfilled expectations become a regular occurrence, its hard not to become a prisoner to cynicism or escape to our "Castle in the Air" to live with a false view of the ideal world. In this retreat, consisting of four talks, Jan helps women explore the issues such as our heritage in Christ, contentment, freedom to serve others, trusting God with our past, present and future, and living in the dignity and authority of a daughter of the King, a true princess, being prepared to meet our King when He returns for us.

Building A House For All Seasons

A retreat series for building good character

Where Do I Begin? The Foundation And The Tools

Jesus Christ is our foundation and He has given us all we need to build a "house" that will stand strong in every season.

A House That Stands In The Storm - Surviving The Winter

One sure thing in life is that storms will come. Jan shares personal storms in her life and how she learned more of God's faithfulness and gained a more intimate relationship with the Lord through the storms.

Dullsville And Disillusionment - The Season I Didn't Expect

Life doesn't always go as we planned or dreamed. At these times, we have choices. We can choose to whine and manipulate among other destructive behaviors, or choose to cooperate with God and let Him use these time to keep us in the process that leads to our becoming more like Jesus.

A House Established And Filled With Precious And Pleasant Riches

As we abide in Christ throughout the seasons of life, the fruits of love, joy, peace, self control, longsuffering, kindness, goodness and faithfulness will be produced in our character and be ripe for others to enjoy.

Putting On The New Self: A Spiritual Makeover

I. REVIEW: Taking a Good Look

Ephesians 4:22
"...put off the old self which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.

Be aware of who you are by understanding your temperament and the personality traits. Look underneath your skin to see your strength, weaknesses, attitudes and behaviors... then test yourself.

(A personality profile test will help each woman know what she is all about)

II. RENEW: Cleaning up Our Act

Ephesians 4:23
"...be made new in the attitude of our minds."

Be willing to change by using spiritual cleansers (confession and forgiveness) and take action to remove the unhealthy behaviors and nasty habits. Learn four ways to change rigid mindsets and attitudes. Wipe away the cover-ups of guilt and shame.

(A creative exercise includes making a collage to see oneself in a new light)

III. REDO: Putting on the New Self

Ephesians 4:24
"Put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

Be ready to go out in the world. Use spiritual "cosmetics". Start with a moisturizer (The Word), add a firm foundation (building up your relationship with Christ). Apply color to your life with a positive attitude and accessorize by reaching out to others by showing your godly virtues and using your spiritual gifts.

(A visual of a start to finish "make-up session" will emphasize the spiritual lesson)

Extra talk or workshop: Beauty from the Inside/Out

Put your best foot forward by knowing how to dress well. Know how to use color and style to express the best parts of you. Other people will take notice. Learn how to make your inner beauty shine out.
